About Sarah

Having grown up in the remote parish of Hartland, Devon, Sarah's first musical instrument was the recorder at the age of 6. When she was 8 Sarah began to learn the flute which she played in the Triggshire Wind Orchestra and Cornwall Youth Wind Orchestra. At the age 15 Sarah loaned a tenor saxophone from the Triggshire Wind Orchestra, changing to the alto when she started the University of Southampton in 2003. While at University Sarah studied with Barbera Brown and briefly with Ian Clarke.

In 2004 Sarah took a placement with Mark Warner in Kos, Greece as the resident musician for their Lakitira Resort. On her return to the UK Sarah began teaching in the Southampton area and performed regularly for WA Shearings in Eastbourne and Bournemouth. She also worked on shows such as Oklahoma, The Beggar's Opera and Joseph & The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat with local amateur societies.

Today Sarah regularly plays with Pops Incorporated UK, the Winchester Chamber Orchestra, Meridian Winds and Flautissimo, of which she is Chairman. She is continuously looking for new challenges; having gained her DipABRSM & ATCL (with Distinction) in December 2008 she also took Grade 5 Clarinet in July 2009. Sarah loves the way music brings people together and endeavours to pass this enjoyment on to her pupils.
